At Casteel Coffee, our motto is "Fresh From Our Roaster to Your Cup!" If you've never had fresh-roasted coffee before, you'll be amazed at the difference freshness makes. On top of freshness, though, we also carry top-quality coffees from around the world. We are very selective about what gourmet coffees we sell, since the quality of the bean directly affects the quality of the beverage.

Looking around the World
The origin of a bean has a huge impact on the flavor of the coffee made from it. Different hybrids of coffee bushes are suited to grow in different parts of the world, and the result is that coffee flavors are frequently named for the origin of the bean. Because of similar climates, different regions of the world are known for different aspects of their coffee.

For example, one of the biggest factors that influences the flavor of a coffee is the acid content. The acid is what gives coffee its sparkle and its "bite." The amount of acid in a coffee depends on the amount of acid in the soil in which the bush is grown--which in turn, depends on how much rainfall the area gets each year.

African coffees tend to be the most acidic, thanks to their arid or temperate growing conditions. If you don't like your coffee to have as much bite, look to coffees from the South Pacific, where the tropical rains yield a very mellow cup of coffee. To find a middle ground between these, try a coffee from Central or South America, which are frequently a delightful mix of spicy and sweet. Once you find an origin that suits you, you'll look forward to every morning with its fresh cup of brew for you.
